The Haunted Carriage by Pat Benedict

The Haunted Carriage was designed by artist Pat Benedict, or Woopitydooart. For Pat, Halloween comes all year round. If your dollhouse is haunted by spooks, she probably has something to do with it! Pat is the founder of the eBay group EHAG, the Eclectic Halloween Artist Group.

This marvelous haunted carriage with hand-sculpted phantom horse and ghost riders was sold on eBay for a winning bid of $1,536.99!

How It's Made: Dollhouse Episode

Last year on the show How It's Made, they showed how dollhouse kits are assembled at Real Good Toys. I had been hearing about it since then, but stumbled upon the video on YouTube this morning. Enjoy!

Tutorials: Orange

Ever wondered how to make those perfect oranges?

Here is a tutorial I found very useful:

The miniature orange tutorial is by Angie Scarr, the author of Making Miniature Food and Market Stalls. While you are there, check out the fantastic leek and sweet corn tutorials there! too!

Dollhouse Animation

This stop-motion animation was part of my MFA project at The University of Texas at Dallas. It was filmed inside the Garfield Manor I have been building since last year. The Heidi Ott dolls were bought and costumed specially for the project: their ball-jointed articulation made them the perfect mini actors for my movie!

The Show's the Thing

I had a great time last weekend at a dollhouse and miniatures show in Sturbridge, MA. Did anyone else here attend?

I have some photos to share of delicious food and vases and a magnificent log cabin.

There's nothing like a gathering of miniaturists for inspiration and education. I learned a better way to make "water" using a resin mixture and can't wait to try it in my 1-inch scale bathtub.
